personal audio clips
You'll
(eventually) find
various sound clips from CDs, live concerts, recitals, etc. that I've
performed over the years. I was joking the other day about bass trombone
highlight reels with a bass trombone-playing friend of mine. We laughed
at how our big moments usually involve 2-3 note licks behind the tenor
sax solo.
Classical
Few,
if any, of my recommendations are "Classical", but since it seems to
be the term of choice in most circles, I've decided not to buck the
trend. These recordings are those that have wowed me over the years.
It is by no means a complete list, but rather a starting point.
Jazz
These
are just a few of the jazz albums that I enjoy listening to. Although
I appreciate improvisation, I tend to listen to recordings that feature
great ensemble playing in addition to the solos.
Movie Scores
I
enjoy movie scores quite a bit. Some of the greatest composers of our
time are writing for the movies. Two of my favorites in the genre are
John Williams and Hans Zimmer. The former's longevity is amazing, even
more so when you consider the wide variety of music he composes. The
latter's music is more percussive and raw, but still effective.
Recent additions to my portfolio include OSU Trombones, ITF2007, and the Getzen Gazette.
